The first World Sauvignon concourse was officially launched - Bordeaux

The first World Sauvignon concourse was officially launched on Tuesday, June 19 and will be held on 25 and 26 June in "Bordeaux Fête Le Vin" coordinated by the Science Institute of Vine and Wine (ISVV).

"The exceptional qualities of aromatic Sauvignon make it one of the most popular varieties among consumers worldwide," said the president of Burgundy and Bordeaux, Bernard Farges, told AFP.

The contest will have about 400 samples from all over the world, which will be evaluated by eight committees of seven people, among them are journalists, sommeliers, distributors and buyers. Each category will have their awards - woody, not woody, blend or 100% Sauvignon.

The researcher of the variety, Denis Dubourdieu, believes that "this competition will be a decoy, because the white has a bad image especially in Bordeaux.

Among the participating regions are: Loire Sauvignon de Touraine, Rueda (Spain), Friuli (Italy), valleys of California, southern Chile, South Africa, Austria and New Zealand.
