Clos de los Siete, Mendoza, Argentina 2008 Part of Michel Rolland's sizeable, globe-spanning portfolio, this - a blend of Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and a drop of Petit Verdot - manages to balance freshness with intensity. There's a delightful bramble pie character running through it, partnered by other hedgerow fruits, chocolate and floral highlights. Penfolds, Koonunga Hill, Autumn Riesling, South Australia 2008 Carrying a dash of Traminer, this is packaged in a fetching retro style and, as you may expect, has plenty of purity and definition.
